Alness to Altnaharra

This is the view across the Dornoch Firth from Bonar Bridge . Blue skies all day. Nice cafe stops in Bonar Bridge and Lairg overlooking the damned lake and then a fantastic session at the Crask Inn 8 miles from
Altnaharra. Great guy from Malton who runs it with his wife – they have been there for 20 Years. Now selling. Pub with accommodation. Bunk house, 12 acres and 2000 acres of grazing rights, offers over £350,000! It’s the future!
Orchid – rare and beautiful
Our dear friend Gerry was lost to us all a couple of years ago. When she last visited us in Yorkshire, just before she was diagnosed, we went for walks in the countryside and spotted orchids growing. Now whenever I spot an orchid I always think of Gerry. So it was when I spotted this one by the roadside. Rare, frail, and beautiful.
Mick
It was lovely to cycle with Mick today. His knee is still giving him heaps and the last 10 miles were hard. He is not confident that he will make it to the end with me but it is wonderful to be cycling together again. Fingers crossed.
Charlie and Jenny are on their way in the big white van – we will meet up with them again on Friday – really looking forward to crossing the finish line in JOG on Friday afternoon!
Up to Altnaharra tomorrow via the Crask Inn which we will investigate en route!
Sponsorship
Just want to say thank you to all who have sponsored us on this trip. We are touched by your generosity and the charities will be delighted. As you all know, we are doing this ride in memory of our dear friend Gerry and your support means a lot.
We are here!
Cycled 60 miles from Fort Augustus to Alness just across the Cromarty Firth from the Black Isle. Now relaxing before dinner in the B & B. Mick is cycling and suffering but popping the pain killers..
