At Arnside Pier
Going off Piste
This was supposed to be a semi rest day but we decided that it would be more fun to do the scenic route via the signed cycle route sling the Lune Estuary path which was lovely.
Pedalling with Mary
With Heysham power station in distance. We set off from Preston this morning – heading for Crooklands near Kendal.
Reunited
Mick was waiting for me just north of Preston – it was so lovely to see him after a tough day. 78 miles today. Mick had been waiting for ages for me. No fun for him at all sitting in the car.
He drove us up to Kendal where we are staying with cousin Mary and Peter tonight and tomorrow. Tomorrow, Mary and I will be driven back to Preston where I left off today and we will cycle together back to her house. Off into the garden now to join Mick ( who is being a complete star and fixing my new pedals on which he drove into Stoke on Trent and the Manchester city centre for today. He is also fixing my mudguard which developed an irksome rattle this afternoon – discovered that the poorly kept Cheshire roads had rattled one of the nuts off and Luckily Mick has a spare – good man! ) we are having pizza cooked in the outdoor pizza oven tonight.
Someone is practising the saxophone – they are really good !
Tuesday
Met Emma Colman and her dog, Poppy, this morning at Nantwich Bookshop where we had a nice coffee before setting off for a couple of hours pedalling together.
Poppy barked constantly as Emma fed her sausages to try to quieten her down!
Emma got a puncture near Northwich so I left her to fix it as I had another 50 miles to cover through the urban sprawl of the North West.
Sorry to abandon you, Emma!
